Thankfully my kids love rainy days as much as I do . . . it's just the kind of day when we get all of our baking done {which is a big plus for my two boys} .
Rainy days were my ultimate favorite as a kid too. They were the days I got to go out and get messy and make mud pies! {I love real mudpie too, but as a kid it was WAY more fun to make them than to eat them.} So when my boys came up and told me how bored they were {which is recently becoming a daily ritual}, I sent them out in the dirt behind my flower bed, where the water always settles. It was a garden fountain with water, but now it's a flower bed.
They had lots of fun.

Like I said, rainy days are for cooking and baking. So beef barley soup, oven baked corn bread, and cookies were a must have. The house smelled SO good! |

And later that night . . . we took out our laptop, put on Mary Poppins, and planned a little camp out in the backyard in the old playhouse.
